Bob belonged to one of the original founding families of Nashville and was extremely interested in local history and genealogy. He had lots of stories to share and asked every new person he met where they were from and about their family.
Bob attended David Lipscomb High School where he met Kay and absolutely adored her for the 58 years they were married. While in college at Lipscomb, he served as president of Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity. For the last 30 years, Bob was a commercial real estate agent and loved talking with all people, never meeting a stranger. Prior to his real estate career, he served as president of the Tennessee Electronic Service Dealers Association.
Bob’s passion was duck and bird hunting and trapshooting. He hunted every opening day of dove season since he was 15 years old with his friends, family and grandchildren. Bob instilled that same passion for hunting in his son and grandchildren. He attended the annual Grand American Trapshoot each of the last 45 years and most recently won the Senior Vet category. In his lifetime, he shot a total of 228,550 registered targets, but shot so many more targets with his Nashville Gun Club friends and family.
Bob eagerly shared his knowledge and love of shotgun sports with his children and 7 grandchildren and loved having a full squad of grandchildren shooting around him. Bob served on the Board of the Nashville Gun Club for 45 years and was instrumental in relocating the club from the airport location to its current location. He was inducted into the Tennessee State Trapshooting Hall of Fame and served as president of the Tennessee State Trapshooting Association and treasurer for more than three decades. Bob treasured the many lifelong friends he made through his shooting experiences. He made a huge impact on his children and grandchildren and they will carry the memories and life lessons he taught them for many generations to come.
