Richard Manning was born in Chicago Illinois June 13th, 1940 and met his wife of 58 years, Margaret who grew up only a few miles down the road while completing his undergraduate degree at Indiana University. After graduating with his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Arkansas, Richard and Margaret moved to Nashville, TN in 1969 to begin a long and good life with many lifetime friends made through St Ann’s Catholic Church and the job he held at UST from graduation until his retirement. His job took him to places throughout the world. But, the travel he enjoyed most was with his family.
Richard was a fantastic dad to his three sons David, Steven and Robert and a wonderful, caring grandfather to his granddaughters Maria and Ana. John 14 says that “My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you also with me where I am.”
A visitation for Richard will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 5101 Charlotte Ave, Nashville, TN 37209.
