Patricia W. Dunlap, 72, of Hermitage, passed away May 2, 2025.
Mrs. Dunlap was the epitome of a homemaker. She was talented in so many ways — sewing, crafting, embroidering, and cooking. She loved using her gifts to make special things for others, often surprising people with something thoughtful she had made just for them. She took those same talents into the workplace as a successful retail store manager.
Mrs. Dunlap loved Jesus and served Him faithfully for more than fifty years as a member of Nashville First Church of the Nazarene . Where she spent 30 years in children’s ministry. Her grandchildren called her “Mimi,” and she loved them “so-so-so-sooooo much.” She rarely missed a moment to show up — whether it was for her kids’ games, recitals, or events, or later in life, proudly attending every grandchild’s performance or activity she could. Her love for her family was constant, loud, and without hesitation.
She also had a deep love for music. In her later years, she couldn’t hear a tune without dancing or moving along — often becoming the joy of the room just by being in it.
Pat spent her final season of life in a nursing facility where she continued to bring light to those around her. The staff often told us how much joy she brought to the halls — how her smile, humor, and spirit lifted those around her.
And she adored her husband. She loved David deeply and spoke often and openly about their life together — a love that lasted nearly 51 years and never dimmed.
Mrs. Dunlap is survived by her parents, Donald and Hermina “Miny” Weaver, loving husband of almost 51 years, David Dunlap; children Tonia (Greg) McLane, Patrick (Holly) Dunlap, and Matthew (Amanda) Dunlap; grandchildren Logan (Courtney) McLane, Mikaela McLane, Noah McLane, Eli Dunlap, Jovie-Ann Dunlap, Monroe Dunlap, and Howard Dunlap; great-grandchildren Parker-Kate McLane and Hudson McLane; sister Jackie (Dave) Damron; brother Scott (Nancy) Weaver; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and too many friends to count.
