Mrs. Hannah J. Barnes, 89, of Nashville, TN, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in Nashville, TN.

10:00am-12:00pm visitation Saturday, August 1, 2026, Peoples Undertaking Co. service Sunday, August 2, 2026, St. James Missionary Baptist Church 1:00pm Internment in St. James MB Church Cemetery.

Hannah Jane Spurlock Barnes was born on March 24, 1937, in McComb, Mississippi, to her loving parents, Emma Williams Spurlock and Jesse Spurlock.

Hannah accepted Christ as her Savior and united with Pink Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She furthered her education and earned her GED from Southwest General College. She worked for a time at Southwest Regional Medical Center and later worked at Eva Gordon Elementary School in Magnolia, Mississippi.

Hannah was preceded in death by her husband, Jonnie Barnes; her loving daughter, Tammy A. Hall; her siblings, Fannie Spurlock, Monroe Spurlock, Wilma Thomas, Clay Lee Magee, Jesse Spurlock, Olivia Coleman, D.B. Spurlock, Oliver Young, Arcola Thomas, Modeskie Tillman, Percy Spurlock, Rosa Lee Spurlock, and Brulah Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her loving children, Gwendolyn G. Wallace (Bobby), Jonnie W. Barnes, Jessie G. Barnes (Margie Ann), and Robin D. Barnes, all of McComb, Mississippi; Floyd D. Barnes (Maria) of Newport News, Virginia; Rhonda E. Counts (Albert) and Angela Barnes of Nashville, Tennessee; along with 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, I.H. Spurlock of New Orleans, Louisiana; her sister, Rose Emma Spurlock of McComb, Mississippi and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
