Mary Thomas Woollard Brown was born in Nashville, TN and attended Nashville Parochial Schools graduating from St Bernard Academy. She graduated from Webster College in St Louis, MO with a degree in education.
Mary Tom was a Metropolitan Nashville elementary school teacher for over 30 years. The majority of her tenure was at Pennington Bend Elementary School.
Mary Tom’s love of knitting reached so many family members and friends. She never failed to provide beautiful knitted items for Holy Rosary congregation’s annual craft sale. Also every family member who had babies was always gifted with her special booties and beautiful baby blankets. She also created elaborate Christmas sweaters for family members. She was a communicant of Church of the Holy Rosary.
Mary Tom was an Associate Member of the Sisters of Mercy and volunteered faithfully to The Ladies of Charity. She played bridge with her close friends and loved attending the annual Ladies of Charity luncheon and bridge game.
She is predeceased by her parents, Teresa and Thomas Woollard from Nashville and also Joseph B. Brown, Jr.
She is survived by two loving sons, Joe (Cathy) Brown of Oxford, AL and Tom Brown of Nashville. Joe and Cathy blessed her with a grandson, Clark (Brooke) Brown from Phenix City, AL along with two beautiful great grandchildren, Cooper and Libby.
A requiem mass will be held at Church of the Holy Rosary, 192 Graylynn Drive, Nashville, 37214 at 11:00 am on Monday, April 28, 2025. Visitation will be in the church narthex from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.
