Mary Lou McCrone Smith Capps, age 99, of Hermitage, TN, formally of Chattanooga, passed away on January 8, 2024.
Mary Lou was born in Little Falls, NY and was the daughter of the late, Walter Cox McCrone and Bessie McCrone.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, James Cam Smith; her second husband, Thomas A. Capps; brother, Walter McCrone; sisters, Phyllis Painter, Sylvia Graft, and Jean Stoll.
In loving memory of our dear Grandma, who completed her life’s puzzle at the age of 99. She was guided by her unwavering faith in God, a matriarch who found joy in the nearness of her family, the sweetness of ice cream, the warmth of a good cup of coffee, and the harmonies of her favorite hymns.
Her adventurous spirit led her to travel to Europe, Canada, Latin America and all over the United States. And yet it was home she loved most of all: sewing, cooking, knitting, and being with her friends and family.
May her soul rest in peace surrounded by the warmth of our family’s love, in the embrace of the Lord Jesus she so faithfully cherished. Your grandkids thank you for the warm scarves; the hummingbirds thank you for saving their babies! We’ll always love you!
