Martha Lucile Haynie (née Little), born on April 22, 1927, in Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, at the age of 98.
Martha was the beloved daughter of John Thomas Little, Sr. and Mildred Lucile Little. She was one of ten siblings and was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Throughout her long and meaningful life, Martha remained deeply rooted in her faith. A devout woman who loved the Lord with all her heart, she lived each day guided by her spiritual convictions and unwavering devotion to her family.
She shared a loving marriage of 63 years with her late husband, Marion Howard Haynie. Together they built a life centered around love, faith, and family. Martha’s legacy continues through her children: son, Ricky Haynie and daughter-in-law, Martha; daughter, Gloria Owensby and son-in-law, Steve; and son, Keith Haynie and daughter-in-law, Dawn. Her nurturing spirit lives on in her ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind her cherished sister, Inez Richmond and sister-in-law, Deanna Little, along with many loving nieces and nephews who will remember her warmth and kindness.
Martha’s life was a testament to enduring love-both for God and for those closest to her. Her presence brought comfort and strength to all who knew her. She will be remembered for the steadfast faith that shaped every aspect of her life and for the deep affection she held for her family.
May Martha’s memory brings peace to those who mourn her passing and joy to those who celebrate the life she so gracefully lived. A Visitation will be held on December 11, 2025, from 4:00 – 07:00 PM at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel 5852 Nolensville Road. A Funeral Service will be held on December 12, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel 5852 Nolensville Road. Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon with the family. Interment 2:00 p.m. at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery 7931 McCrory Lane, Nashville 37221.
