We are saddened to announce the passing of Margaret (Knipfer) Smith on May 24, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on April 3, 1940, Margaret is now reunited with her husband, Robert Smith, and her beloved dog, Harley. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Roy Howell, Richard Jr., Ralph, Earl, Donald Knipfer, and sisters Rubye Barnhart and Eunice Read.
Margaret is survived by her daughter Beverly (Danny) Brooks, sons Ronnie (Julie) Smith, and Michael (Teresa) Smith. Her grandchildren Alicia Brooks, Rachel (Jody) Brown, Bobby (Shelbi) Smith, Todd (Rebecca) Smith, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews will continue to hold her memory dear.
She cherished her community at North Springfield Baptist Church and had a passion for UT sports, particularly Lady Vols basketball, along with Braves baseball. Margaret enjoyed antiquing and yard sales, reflecting her love for collecting and appreciating the past.
For over 30 years, Margaret and Robert proudly operated Ashland City Auto Parts, contributing to their community’s needs.
Margaret’s caring nature and dedication to her family and community will be remembered and missed by all. Special thanks of appreciation to the staff and employees at NHC Springfield, especially Pam Baker and Janice Garrison.
Visitation will take place at Anderson & Garrett Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 27, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 PM. and again on Wednesday, May 28th from 10 A.M. until the time of Service at 11 A.M. with Bro. Active Pallbearers are Bobby Smith, Todd Smith, Jody Brown, David Tomlinson, Joseph Knipfer, and Lunden Ruhstaller. Honorary Pallbearers are the members of the Joyful Noise Sunday School Class at North Springfield Baptist Church.
