Margaret E. Wright Obit

Margaret Elizabeth (James) Wright, age 95, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away Sunday, November 30, 2025, in Gallatin, Tennessee after a short illness. Margaret was born at Baptist Hospital in Nashville, on February 4, 1930, to the late Lillious and Sam James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Wright, stepdaughter Cyndi Fagan, son in law Jimmy Maddox, daughter in law Lisa Wright and great grandson Matthew Sims.

She is survived by daughters Teresa (Thomas) Sims of Madison, Sandra (James) Couch of Gallatin and Donna Maddox of Ruffin S.C., stepson Dennis (Cliff) Wright of San Antonio, TX, son in law Jeff Fagan of Woodbine MD and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Margaret grew up in Madison attending Stratton Elementary and graduating from Isacc Litton High School in 1947. She continued living in the Madison area raising her children there in the community’s idyllic time of the 1950’s through the 1970’s. She worked well into her 70’s, last working in the trucking industry at Star Transportation.

Margaret had great faith along with an inquisitive nature. She continued her bible studies and was known to question some of the teacher’s conclusions. I’ve heard she kept the classes lively. She believed physical activity kept her moving and attended or led exercise classes up until her last week of life. She was known to enjoy playing games at the Goodlettsville Senior Center, the Lenox Place Clubhouse, Brookdale Assisted Living or at anyone’s kitchen table. She played competitively with an eye on following the rules.

Along with her faith, continued learning, exercising and social activities, her formula for healthy aging included eating an apple every day – every single day. She was an inspiration to her family and friends, and she will be sorely missed.

Please join our family for an informal celebration of life honoring Margaret Wright. It will be an open house gathering filled with memories. Your presence and stories would mean much to us,

December 20, 2025, Noon to 3:00PM at Lenox Place Clubhouse, 395 Devon Chase Hill, Gallatin, TN.
