Leslie Annette (Giompoletti) Chiz, age 60, of Nashville, TN, died at home, May 20, 2025, after a courageous 3+ year battle against ovarian cancer.
Born June 8, 1964, in Cleveland, MS, to John Henry Giompoletti and the late Mary JoAnn (Hobson) Giompoletti, Leslie became an associate degree registered nurse in 1997, and began a lifelong career caring for others. Employed most recently at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center since 2009, Leslie went on to receive her BSN in 2019 and an MSN in Nursing Education in 2021 and had shifted her focus to teaching.
Leslie leaves behind her loving husband Scott Chiz of Nashville, TN, her wonderful sons Hunter Strech (Hannah), of Johnson City, TN, and Dillon Strech (Camille), of Columbia, TN, her adorable grandson Finnley Strech of Johnson City, TN, and her finicky cat, Cassandra. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Merico and Vallie (Ferretti) Giompoletti, Androclus and Addie (Lishman) Hobson, and her mother, Mary JoAnn (Hobson) Giompoletti.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Marta Crispens, Dr. Matthew Fleming, and Dr. Matthew Abbate, as well as the entire staff at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center Infusion Clinic.
