LEE ALLEN (LA) CURTIS, JR. was born on May 11, 1951, in Fayetteville, Tennessee, to the late Lee Allen Curtis Sr. and Georgia Lee Tucker. He peacefully departed this life on February 13, 2025. Affectionately known as LA, Lee was an avid sportsman and a proud graduate of Marshall County High School, Class of 1970, where he excelled in athletics.
Following high school, Lee relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he began working as a Medical Service Transporter. This experience led to his lifelong career as a long-distance truck driver. Lee drove for Cumberland Swan for many years, earning numerous accolades for safe driving and achieving million-mile driver milestones until the company’s closure. Later, until health challenges arose, Lee continued his career by driving for First Express. On February 21, 1987, Lee was united in holy matrimony with his devoted wife and life partner, Shelah Whitelaw.
A true outdoorsman who found joy in nature, after retirement, Lee remained active by embracing an entrepreneurial spirit and starting a Lawn Care Service. Known for his straightforward nature, Lee lived with passion and valued time with family and friends. He loved grilling, laughing, and sharing good times with those he treasured. A devoted Tennessee Titans fan, Lee never missed his grandson, Fella’s weekly football games until his health no longer allowed. Lee was preceded in death by his father, Lee Allen Curtis Sr., and stepson, Kevin LeMario Whitelaw.
To cherish his memory, Lee leaves behind his dedicated wife, Shelah Whitelaw Curtis; devoted mother, Georgia Lee Braden; brother Dennis Braden (Shannon Johnson); devoted daughters Lisa (Adam) Ewing, Tammy Kemp, Lasaundra (Frederick) Garrett, and Ashton Leneese Curtis; stepdaughter Lashanondria Nikki (Victor) Moorehead; stepson Daniel (Dalena) Robinson; devoted aunt Edith Gordon; devoted uncles Harris B.
