Mr. Larry Gordon Thompson was born in Nashville, TN on September 9, 1941, to Charles Ray and Lucile Page Thompson. Larry graduated from Cohn High School and went on to complete his Bachelor’s degree at Belmont College.
He fostered a successful career as an agent with Provident Life Insurance in the Middle Tennessee area and moved to Illinois in the mid 1980’s, where he owned his own business. In 2023, Larry returned to his home state.
He loved history and had a great interest in his family who fought in the Civil War. He particularly enjoyed travelling to the battlefield sites where his family members had been engaged in battle.
Larry passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the age of 83 years. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucile Thompson, wife, Sharon Thompson, sisters, Betty Ray Sullivan and Joyce Ann Dorris, niece, Sharon Wilson and nephew, Michael “Tony” Sullivan.
He is survived by daughter, Julie Little (James), son, Mark Thompson, grandchildren, Ashton Little, Chasen Thompson, Brittany Parker; stepchildren, Gloria Haswell and Roy Lewis; step-grandchild, Toby Haswell.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home, 9090 Hwy 100, Nashville, TN between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. with a graveside service to follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
