It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kim Renee Wilson, a beloved wife, mother, Kiki and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Kim left this world peacefully on November 20, 2024, surrounded by family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness that touched the lives of all who knew her.

Kim was born on August 20, 1957, in Ardmore, OK. Growing up, Kim lived in several places in both Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Kim met and married the love of her life, Brent, at Harding College in Searcy, AR, and they shared 46 years growing closer every day in their deep love for each other, their faith and walk with God, and their dedication to their family and life of service to others.

She was the most amazing loving mother to Anna Ladd (Buddy) of Franklin, TN, Daniel Wilson (Tawny) of St Petersburg, FL and Nathan Wilson (Randi) of Waupaca, WI. To her grandchildren, Tanley, Crew, Crosby, Camp and Asher, she was their most cherished Kiki, a source of endless love and joy. Kim was also a devoted sister to her brother Chris Lewis (Nikki) of Sarasota, FL, a caretaker to her beloved 101-year-old grandmother, Dorothy Pensoneau of Lebanon, TN, as well as a sister-in-law, and aunt to countless nieces and nephews. Kim always put her family first, creating a home that was a sanctuary of warmth and joy.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Cecilia Lewis; father, Jimmie Tom Taliaferro; brother, Joe Allen Lewis; grandfather, Cecil Pensoneau; father-in-law Frank Wilson; and mother-in-law Virginia Wilson.

Professionally, Kim had a Master’s in Social Work and her work reflected her deep love for Christ and her passion for helping others. Over the years Kim worked with adoptive children and parents while also being a strong advocate for helping biological parents rehabilitate and reunite with their children wherever possible, she worked in foster care both ensuring safe and loving homes for children while also teaching and mentoring foster families, she held the hands and walked the road alongside victims of domestic violence, helped women facing the dual challenge of pregnancy and opioid recovery, she spent time in mental health counseling, supported global missions through Harding University, provided support for families of critically ill and end of life patients, and most recently her time was spent working with heart transplant recipients and their loved ones.

Kim was a confidant and an inspiration who saw her work as her way to be the hands and feet of Jesus and touched not just her patients but all of those around her in the process. In the days following her passing, her family has taken such comfort and joy in hearing the countless stories of the lives she has touched.

Kim was “practically perfect in every way” and her kindness extended far beyond her work. As a friend, and bonus mom to many, she was loyal, caring, and always ready to lend a helping hand, whether to help decorate, plan a wedding, or to provide wisdom and guidance in a time of need, like only she could. Kim was witty, she had the best sense of humor, she loved to sit on the porch with a sweet tea or diet coke in hand and good friends to share it with, she was the ultimate hostess and loved a good “swirl”, her laugh was contagious, and her presence brought comfort to all.

Though she is no longer with us, Kim’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her family and friends will carry forward her spirit of compassion, service to others, and love.

A celebration of Kim’s life will be held on December 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Woodmont Hills Church with a visitation/mingle being held prior, on December 7, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. upstairs at Woodmont Hills Church in room 205. There will also be a service held on December 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. specifically for Kim’s grandmother and her Crawford family at Hearthside Senior Living. https://www.woodbinefuneralhome.com
