Kenneth R. Northern, 78, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on August 29, 2025. Born on February 7, 1947, in Nashville, he was the son of the late Mary and Lorenzo Northern. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Lorenzo Jr. and Ronnie, and his sister Patricia.
Kenneth’s life was one of dedication, hard work, and a deep love for his family. He served proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, embodying the values of courage and commitment. After returning home, Kenneth built a long and successful career, working for 10 years at Sears Outlet and dedicating 22 years to Nissan Motor Company. His work ethic and devotion to providing for his loved ones were at the core of who he was.
In 1969, Kenneth married the love of his life, Darunee, in Bangkok, Thailand. Together, they shared 56 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Kenneth was a proud father to his daughters Stephanie (Michael) and Dara (Paul), and his son Cory. He was a loving grandfather to his granddaughters, Sydney (Denesha) and Asia, as well as his grandson Michael.
Kenneth had a spirit that never dimmed. He had a passion for movies of all genres and was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to the Tennessee Titans and Vanderbilt University sports. His energy was infectious at games, where his love for his teams was clear. Whether cheering from the sidelines or watching movies at home, Kenneth’s enthusiasm and joy were always evident.
A lover of Motown music and a dreamer of “life beyond the stars,” Kenneth’s soul will always be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and his unshakeable devotion to those he loved. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
