Joy Irene Auxer Ward, age 95 of Joelton, TN formerly of Pennsylvania passed away Monday, August 5, 2024 at Creekside Center for Rehab and Healing in Madison, TN.
Mrs. Ward was born in Harrisburg, PA on October 18, 1928 to the late Arthur James and Lucinda Romaine Myers Auxer.
She was married to Frank S. Ward on March 20, 1948.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Arthur “Artie” Auxer and William “Bill” Auxer.
Joy was known as a sweet, wonderful and joyful lady. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, liked playing cards at Card Club, playing Pinochle and card games with her loved ones and polka dancing with her late husband. She enjoyed sewing and collecting spoons from her travels and attending St. John’s Lutheran Church in Shiremanstown, PA.
She is survived by a son, Frank (Sharon) Ward of Pocatello, ID; daughters, Susan (Don) Dempsey of Joelton, TN, Karen (Randy) Smith of New Cumberland, PA; sister, Doris Jane Cressler of PA; 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
There will be a Life Celebration and Viewing Service at Musselmans Funeral Home in Lemoyne, PA on Friday, August 23, 2024, 4-6 PM. Burial will be held Sat. August 24, 2024 at Rolling Green Cemetery, Camp Hill, PA, at 2 PM.
