Johnnie Lee, Jr., age 77, passed away February 5, 2026. Johnnie Lee Jr. was a dedicated, hardworking man whose life was defined by integrity, love, and quiet strength. After years of faithful service, he retired from the City of El Cerrito and Del Monte, leaving behind a legacy of commitment and pride in an honest day’s work.

Johnnie was a man of values and standards who found joy in life’s simplest moments. You could often find him relaxing while cheering on his beloved San Francisco 49ers or watching wrestling with his daughter Rosalind while sitting on the couch, sharing time and laughter together. He treasured time spent fishing with his sons, Anthony and Johnnie Jamail, creating memories that will live on for generations.

An avid bowler, Johnnie was deeply involved in the sport, proudly participating in several bowling leagues. Bowling was more than a pastime – it was a place where his competitive spirit, camaraderie, and joy for life shined.

Family was at the heart of everything Johnnie did. He cherished the time spent with his siblings Emma, James, and Helen where laughter often filled the room and love was always present. Last November, Johnnie experienced great fulfillment while traveling cross country to Corning, California. During that trip, he proudly shared photos from his younger days, showing off his afro and bell bottom GQ style proof that he and his siblings were truly the ‘coolest on the block.’

Johnnie Lee Jr. will be deeply missed, but his love, laughter, and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. His life was well lived, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.

The family of Johnnie Lee Jr. would like to sincerely thank everyone who has sent condolences, flowers, and kind words during this difficult time. Your love, support, and prayers are deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.

Preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Lee, Sr.; mother, Bessie Jackson-Lee; son, Rodney Lee; sisters, Jettie Mae Lowe and Alberta Embry. He leaves behind his daughter, Rosalind Owens; sons, Anthony Lee and Johnnie Lamail Lee; siblings, James Lee, Helen Smith, and Emma Hughes; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
