John Jeffrey Warner, M.D., age 75, passed away on January 2, 2025.

He was born December 8, 1949 in Akron, Ohio to Margaret Ann Warner and John Edward Warner.

Dr. Warner was a graduate with Distinction from Cornell University in 1972, with a degree in Chemical Engineering. There, he was a member of the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society. He graduated Northwestern University Medical School in 1976, as a member of the Medical Honorary Society A.O.A. and completed his Residency at Vanderbilt University.

John and his wife of forty-nine years, Judy Kneifel Warner, made Nashville, Tennessee their home with their family of two daughters, Maryanne and Amy, and enjoyed time together in the many adventures he planned. He was active in the leadership of the National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee, the Nashville Academy of Medicine, the Tennessee Medical Association, the Canby-Robinson Society of Vanderbilt University, St. Thomas Hospital and the State Volunteer Mutual Insurance Company. Dr. Warner’s career caring for his patients spanned over forty years and he took great joy in not just helping his patients, but in learning more about each individual through their families and their lives.

More recently, John’s time and talents were spent enjoying an active retirement doing the things he loved. John most enjoyed his family and his garden, but his interests spanned from music, to woodworking, to technology, to reading, to golf and beyond. Known by his grandchildren and friends as “Dockie,” he rarely missed an opportunity to support his children and grandchildren in their interests. His energy, love and enthusiasm for life will always be his legacy.

John was predeceased by his father, John Edward Warner, and his mother, Margaret Ann Warner.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; their two children, Maryanne Belser of Columbia, South Carolina (Freeman) and Amy Greathouse of Nashville, Tennessee (Will); and seven grandchildren, Hill, Heyward and John Belser and Margaret, William, Miller and Warner Greathouse. He is also survived by his brothers, David Warner (Mary) and Gregg Warner (Jamie).
