John Eheman Buchanan passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2025. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 24, 1949, to Charles and Rose (Bieser) Buchanan.
John grew up in Nashville and graduated from Father Ryan High School in 1966. He attended Middle Tennessee State University before building a career in industrial chemical sales and training.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie; his daughter, Rachel (Sandy) Edmondson of Brentwood, Tennessee; his son, Gavin (Margaret) French of Nashville; his son, Tyler Buchanan, San Antonio and seven cherished grandchildren-Gus and Noah Edmondson and Wilder, Cormac, and Vera French, and Cassie Warren and Kynley Buchanan and his sister, Betty Ann Fugate. John was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Charlie, Eddie, and Trudy Buchanan.
John was passionate about his wife, his children, their spouses and grandchildren. He treasured spending time with each of them sharing his love of fishing, baseball, soccer and college football. He spent hours attending games of all the sports his son and grandsons played and though initially resistant learned to enjoy lacrosse. Another favorite pastime was traveling with Debbie throughout the US visiting many national and state parks and beaches from coast to coast. Through work and personal trips he managed to visit forty seven states plus France, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
John also had a lifelong love and appreciation of music. He could identify the hits from every type of artist over the decades. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and sitting in front of a fire on the Buffalo or Piney Rivers with his lifelong friend, John Sharpe.
A Memorial Service will be held February 24th at 2:00 at Church of the Redeemer, 920 Caldwell Lane, Nashville Tennessee. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the church parlor.
The Buchanan family is especially grateful for the exceptional care he received from Clarissa Seay, Tosha McClain and the team from Alive Hospice.
