Jason E. West, age 49 of Nashville, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 26, 2024, having battled pancreatic cancer since May.
He was born July 20, 1975, to the late William “Chili” West and Vivian Braswell.
He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Redskins. He played baseball from age 5 through his days at Overton High School, where he graduated. He continued to play softball well into his adult life. He loved sports of every kind and played basketball and football and loved rollerblading and skateboarding.
He loved his church and especially his youth group at Tusculum Hills Baptist Church. He attended University of Tennessee at Martin and Middle Tennessee State University. He was self-employed as a painter and worked in construction most of his life. More than anything, Jason wanted friends and family to know how much he loved them and for there to be peace and forgiveness.
His incredibly beautiful attitude and strength throughout his illness brought healing to many relationships and we are grateful for that. His mother is most deeply grateful to Anna Williams who cared diligently for Jason throughout his illness, and for his friends, Scott Pfieffer, Kendra Melynk and Todd Clifton who stayed so close to us throughout.
He is survived by his mother, Vivian Braswell (Michael); son, Zane Scott (Maddie); siblings, Brandon West (Jessica) and Lance West (Cassie); aunt, Janet Dodd; uncles, Bailey Dodd, Tony Hood, Paul West (Patty) and Kenny West (Jenny); and his numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. with visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Pastor Frank Lewis from Tusculum Hills Baptist Church will officiate. https://www.woodbinefuneralhome.com
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to the Nashville World Outreach Partners, a children’s ministry of Tusculum Hills Baptist Church.
