Mrs. Janice Jean Davis, age 76, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on June 13, 1948 in Nashville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Dorothy and Bethel Smith, Jr.

Mrs. Davis was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a longtime member of Old Hickory First Baptist Church and well-known for her homemade chocolate chip cookies and for sending personalized greeting cards.

Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by her father, Bethel Clayton Smith, Jr.; her mother, Dorothy Jean (Greer) Smith; her sister, Linda “L” Stults; and a daughter, Kristy Lee Davis.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Samuel Davis; daughter, Jennifer Martin (Chris); son, Steven Davis (Angela); grandchildren Madeline Martin, Jackson Martin, Trevor Clark (Abbie), Cole Hedden (Macy), Abigail Alford (Jackson) Conner Hedden, Carter Hedden, Elizabeth Mariah-Jean Davis; and great-grandchildren Pheobe Hedden and “Baby” Clark. Mrs. Davis also leaves behind numerous cousins and extended family members and friends.

There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends at Hermitage Funeral Home on Sunday, June 8, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and on Monday, June 9, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 PM in the Tulip Grove Chapel at the funeral home with Rev. Emerson Wiles officiating. Family members will serve as Pallbearers. David Vester, John Greer, Jr., Greer Carr, Greg Carr, Bo Malone, Clay Malone, Wayne Flatt, Ken Jenkins, Larry Welch, David Corky, Bruce Jackson, James Askins, and the Jessie Williams Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. Following the service, Mrs. Davis will be laid to rest in the Garden of Gethsemane at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
