James Robert Gardner, affectionately known as Jimmy, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2024.
Born on March 3, 1952, Jimmy brought joy and laughter to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Gardner; And brother, John Gardner, Jr.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved daughters, Heather Chambers (Bryan) and Heidi Gardner, and his cherished grandchildren, Wyatt Chambers, Hattie Chambers, June Chambers, and Tyler McDade. He was a devoted father and a wonderful Opa, always ready with a joke and a smile.
Jimmy’s life was marked by his generous spirit and willingness to lend a hand. Whether serving as an usher at church, coaching his daughters’ sports teams, or helping out at their school, Jimmy was always eager to volunteer. His dedication extended to his family’s business, Gardner’s Auto Parts, where he worked diligently to support his loved ones.
One of Jimmy’s greatest passions was travel. Some of the family’s most treasured memories include snorkeling adventures in the Bahamas, where his love for exploration and fun shone brightly. Friday nights were often spent playing cards and sharing laughter, a tradition that brought the family closer together.
Jimmy’s grandchildren adored him, especially when he sang to them. His hugs and contagious laugh will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. He was a pillar of strength and joy in the lives of those he touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church, 1225 Gallatin Pike S, Madison, TN 37115, on Tuesday, July 30th at 11 am with visitation starting at 10 am. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204. https://www.phillipsrobinson.com
