James Lee Simmons, age 89, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on June 18, 2025. He was born in Nashville to the late Aubrey and Gladys Simmons.
James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found purpose and joy in his family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors—especially fishing and gardening—and was happiest when surrounded by his loved ones. James was known for his steady presence, quiet strength, and the deep care he showed to those closest to him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Glenda Simmons, and his parents, Aubrey and Gladys Simmons.
James is survived by his sons James R. Simmons and David (Elle) Simmons, his daughter Donna (Mike) Gosnell, his grandchildren Chelsea Lauren Gosnell, Justin (Lauren) Gosnell, and Evangeline Simmons, and his great-grandchildren Abigail Grace Gosnell, Lila-Kate Gosnell, Leighton Dawn Gosnell, and Anna Marie Gosnell. He is also survived by his nephews Otto (Kerri) Toth, John (Lea) Toth, and Johnny (Pam) Carter.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM on Saturday, June 22, 2025, at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, located at 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN.
