James Dennis Kellogg Obit

James Dennis Kellogg, Age 80, of Nashville, TN, passed away on June 3, 2024. Jim was born on October 10, 1943, in Lorain, OH to Betty and James Kellogg. He attended Nunda High School in Nunda, NY for 2 years and transferred to Rincon High School in Tucson, AZ where he graduated in 1962. He went on to attend the University of Arizona and Santa Monica City College after moving to Santa Monica, CA.

He went on to work for Litton Industries and became the president of Linn Camera in Lansing, MI. He later retired from Eastman Kodak in 2004. Jim served his country in the National Guard with the 158th Infantry in Tucson, AZ for 1 year then transferred to Glendale, CA with the 1st BN 160th Infantry. He served for 5 years and resigned as a 1st Lieutenant.

In February 1966, Jim married Cynthia Kowalk Kellogg. They were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Christine (Justin) Kellogg Hare and Tracy (John) Kellogg Shaw. Cindi preceded him in death on October 6, 2000. Jim and Pamela Fricks Kellogg were married in July 2005. Pam brought her two daughters to the family, Christina (David) Laney Schindler and Melody McLeod.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Kellogg and 8 grandchildren; Grace (Aaron) Cowan Phelps, Grady Dennis Shaw, Noah Schindler, Emmett Schindler, Olivia Schindler, Cameron McLeod, Logan McLeod, and Laney McLeod. In January 2025 his great-granddaughter was born, Delilah Christine Phelps.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, James “Jim” Edward Kellogg; mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Owens Kellogg; brothers, Joseph “Danny” Daniel Kellogg and John David Kellogg. Jim was an avid golfer and treasured his trips to the Master’s on several occasions. When he became disabled, watching golf on TV with Pam was their form of entertainment.

A Celebration of Life was held in Tucson, AZ on October 12, 2024, hosted by Mary and Pam Kellogg, Chris and Justin Hare, Tracy Shaw, and Wendy Thompson. Soldiers from Fort Huachuca, AZ honored him by performing Military Honors; flag folding and playing Taps. Relatives from Arizona, Idaho and Nevada, along with family from North Carolina, Maryland, and Tennessee were in attendance.

A second Celebration of Life was held on November 29, 2024, in Nashville, TN. In attendance were his grandchildren; Noah from New York, Emmett from Atlanta, Olivia from North Carolina, and Cameron, Logan, and Laney from Tennessee, who gathered with their parents, Chris, David, and Melody, and their grandmother, Pam, to honor their Papa Jim with a slide show, songs, poems, and re-lived many happy memories.
