Jacqueline (Jackie) Smith Fleming departed this world to be with her loving Father on Thursday, March 6, 2025.

Jackie was born on August 15, 1929 to Sadie Jones Smith and Lawrence Elston Smith in Indianapolis, IN.

Jackie attended and graduated from Peabody College in 1952. After graduation, she began a long career as a school teacher, teaching in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System for over 24 years. She retired from teaching in 1991.

She enjoyed her years of membership in The Woman’s Club of Nashville, her regular bridge club group, had a life-long love for reading and was a longtime member of Harpeth Hills Church of Christ.

After the passing of her beloved husband Ralph in 2015, she moved to Birmingham, AL and lived at Kirkwood by the River. Over those 10 years, she made many new friends and was loved by so many there.

Jackie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Ralph Morton Fleming, and is survived by daughter Cindy F. Bonds, son R. Craig Fleming (Sherrie); 6 grandchildren, Christina B. Box (Dustin), Matthew Bonds (Grace Anne), Julie F. Cate (Matthew), Brooke F. Pilot (Brandon), Virginia F. Lathem (William), Andrew Fleming; 13 great-grandchildren, Katherine Box, Eleanor Box, Teddy Bonds, Clara Beth Bonds, Parker Cate, Emmaline Cate, Charlie Cate, Fields Cate, Bowen Pilot, Frances Pilot, Fleming Pilot, Walker Lathem, Anne Ellis Lathem; and many friends and relatives.

Visitation and funeral service was held at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Sunday, March 9th, with visitation from 11 – 1, memorial service at 1:00 and burial immediately following.
