OBITUARY: Herbert Holt

Herbert Lee Holt “Butterball” was born on May 17, 1949 in Nashville, TN to Leon C. Holt Sr. and Rena Perry Holt. He departed this life on Saturday June 14, 2025 in Nashville, TN.

Herbert accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist church under Julius R. Scruggs. During “Butterball’s” early life he attended Haynes school and then accepted employment at Metro Public Works. Later in life, he became a member of the Cobra’s Motorcycle club and was a proud and devoted member of Martin Luther King Jr. Lodge 361. Where he found fellowship and purpose among his community.

He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and grandchildren making happy and enjoyable memories with them. Herbert Lee Holt “Butterball” spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him deeply. Though he may be gone, the joyful memories will remain forever.

Psalms 37: 23-25 (KJV) The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

• Daughter: Renalla Patrice and (Husband) Gregory Rucker three grandchildren: Geonnie Brenea, Yamelia Eylse, Tiara Patrice Rucker
• Daughter: Dominique Talley Granddaughter: Jaziel Simmons
• Sister: Ann Johnson

Special Thanks to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital and Alive Hospice and Staff Nurses: Brad, Christina, Arenet, Patrice and Donna. Nurse Aide: Terra. During dad’s final days family and friends were overjoyed with the care given.
