German Moses Carlisle, age 92 of Goodlettsville, TN. passed away suddenly on May 22, 2024 at his residence.
German was a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was born and raised in Williamson County, TN, graduating in 1950 from Hillsboro High School in Franklin where he excelled in basketball.
After high school, he served our country as a corporal in the United States Army with a tour in Japan.
Upon returning home, he attended then Middle Tennessee State College in Murfreesboro and graduated in 1959 with a BS in mathematics and industrial arts.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Joelton.
German retired from Avco/Textron Aerostructures where he was a programmer analyst.
He married Sue Carney Carlisle, the love of his life in 1984.
German’s passion was golf. He played as much as possible and was still playing into his 80s.
Other than his wife, he adored his grandchildren, and they loved him. He never missed any of their games, plays, competitions or graduations.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sue Carlisle, parents Moses and Lola Carlisle, brothers Garland and Gilman Carlisle, sisters Gwendolyn Lampley, Gratis Meacham and Gertrude Byrd.
Survived by son, Steve Carney (Sandy), grandson Drew Carney (Mattie), granddaughter Dani DuMont (Koby), great-grandchildren John Parker DuMont, Baylor DuMont, Chandler DuMont, Prescott DuMont, Tommy Carney, Carlisle Carney-his namesake, Ladd Carney and dear friends Joe and Martha Moore.
Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM conducted by Pastor David Royalty. The burial will follow in Williamson Memorial Gardens. Drew Carney, Koby DuMont, John Parker DuMont, Shane Arnold, Keith Terry, Joe Moore and Jason Gibbs will serve as pallbearers.
