Evelyn Jean Boyd, of Nashville, passed away peacefully of natural causes at the age of 93 on Sunday, May 4, 2023.

“Jeanie” was born on March 9, 1930 to Robert Lee Edgin and Zera Daniel Edgin.

Her early years were spent on a farm in Dickson County, where her family lived on the banks of the Cumberland River.

After graduating from Charlotte High School she moved to Nashville and soon began work for Bell South and AT&T, a career spanning nearly 40 years.

In 1955 she met and soon married Fred Wyatt Boyd, on Feb 11, 1956, in Robertson County, having two sons, Phillip Wyatt Boyd and Stephen Clark Boyd. Jean continued as a parent what she had learned as a child. Love of family.

She is survived by her sons Phillip and Stephen, and his wife Meredith, and many beloved Nieces and Nephews.

She was preceded in death by eight brothers: Clarence Edgin, James Edgin, David Edgin, Daniel Edgin, Hershel Edgin, Joseph Robert Edgin, William Edhin, and Edward Edgin, and sister, Myrna Cox.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Alive Hospice, Nashville.

A graveside service will be held Monday, May 8th, at 10 am, at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. 660 Thompson Ln.

In closing the family would like to share one of Jeans childhood memories, in her own words. “That river was our main attraction, it and the ford creak. I literally don’t believe we could have survived those hot humid summers, had we not had the luxury of jumping in and taking a daily swim, (two or three some days). Water was my salvation, I always enjoyed splashing in the water”.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.Woodlawn-Roesch-PattonFH.com for the Boyd family.
