Emma May Blakely-Hancock was born July 2, 1928 to Albert Blakely, Sr., and Emma Blakemore Blakely in Franklin, Tennessee. She departed this in life on May 30th, 2022.

Emma May attended Williamson County Public Schools and was employed by St. Thomas Hospital for 25 years as a surgical instrument technician. She was also employed by the Horton Family for many years.

Emma united with First Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, Tennessee. At an early age under the Pastorate of Reverend Luther Colman. She later united with Beech Creek Missionary Baptist Church; then Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully as an usher for many, many years until her health declined. She loved her church.

Emma was very family-oriented; the mother of one son, Barry Hancock, who proceeded her in death. She loved cooking, gardening, and caring for family and others.

She is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Emma Blakely, Sr., her son Barry Hancock, siblings Albert Jr., Will (Bill), Lewis Cecil, Lafayette, Luther Coleman, and Nellie Earline Lewis.

She leaves to cherish her memories, sisters: Hester Hamilton & Willie Mai Glenn, brother: Alfonzo Blakely, sister-in-law: Cora Blakely, devoted cousins: Joyce Turay & Shirley Jones, her dearest friend: Sue E. Ward, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Viewing Friday, June 3, 2022, 1-6 at the funeral home. Visitation Saturday, June 4, 2022, 12-1 pm with funeral to follow at Mt. Gilead M.B. Church Hermitage Location. Burial in Springhill Cemetery. https://www.terrellbroadyfuneralhome.com
