Elizabeth Rosanne DiMeola, lovingly known as “Momma Rose,” passed away peacefully at the age of 73. Born on December 10, 1951, to Mary Jean Redmon and William Edwards, Elizabeth lived a vibrant and loving life filled with family, friends, and an unwavering spirit of generosity.
Elizabeth’s life was marked by her dedication to others. She was a woman of many talents and wore many hats throughout her lifetime. She studied at barber college in Nashville, Tennessee, and went on to work as an insurance sales agent, workout and dance instructor, and talented barber/stylist—often combining her skills with heartfelt conversation and warmth.
A passionate dancer, Elizabeth was a skilled clogger and choreographer who inspired many through her movement and joy. Her love for dance was just one of the ways she expressed herself—she also had a deep appreciation for music and could often be found “cutting a rug” with her infectious smile and laughter lighting up the room.
Elizabeth had a heart of gold and was known for her selfless nature. She welcomed people from all walks of life into her circle, giving freely of herself to ensure others were safe, loved, and seen. She would give the shirt off her back without hesitation and found true joy in helping others. Holidays were her time to shine—especially Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas—which she made magical for those around her, leaving cherished memories that will live on forever.
She loved nature, especially owls, and enjoyed long, meaningful conversations with her beloved baby sister and close friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she showered them with unconditional love.
Elizabeth was previously married to Pasquale DiMeola and was later widowed by her beloved husband, John P. Saad Jr. She was a devoted member of the Southern Baptist church in her later years, finding comfort and connection in her faith.
She is survived by her children: Gloria Angelina Ruth DiMeola, Dominic Jeno DiMeola, and Gary Carl Smith Jr.; her sister, Teri Daniels; sister-in-law, Candace Pentecost; grandchildren: Lapis DiMeola, Amanda Pentecost, Autumn Pentecost, and Bethany Abbott; and her great-grandchildren: Marisol Pentecost, Rosie Pentecost, Juan Pentecost, and Lilith Pentecost.
Elizabeth is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jean Jones; father, Walter Edwards; sister Linda Parker; brother Tracey Allen; husband John Phillip Saad Jr., and her precious granddaughter Cristy Abbott.
Elizabeth’s legacy is one of love, laughter, strength, and unmatched generosity. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
“To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die.”
