Eleanor B. Yarborough, known as “Mimi” to her grandkids, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the age of 82 years.
Eleanor and Larry married while college students and graduated together from Samford University; she received her Masters of Library Science with presidential honors from Vanderbilt University. She was devoted wife, a loving mother, an educator, writer, and executive. She and Larry were married in Mobile, AL, on August 26, 1961. She served the Tennessee Baptist Convention as Director of Communications (retired in 2002). Eleanor was an active member and Deacon at Nashville First Baptist Church where she and Larry attended since 1970. Eleanor especially loved home decorating and crossword puzzles. She was a beautiful woman, often judged to be much younger than she was.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Katherine Baltzer.
Eleanor is survived by her husband, Larry Yarborough, Sr.; Son, Dr. Larry Yarborough, Jr. (Diana); Daughter, Holly Yarborough; Grandchildren, William Yarborough (Melanie), Nathan Yarborough (Sarah), Taylor Whitehurst, Jacob Whitehurst, and Anna Katherine Yarborough.
Visitation will be held at Nashville First Baptist Church, Seventh Avenue at Broadway, on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 10 am until her Celebration of Life at 11 am. Burial will be held privately. https://www.phillipsrobinson.com
