DR. TIMOTHY RAY PAULEY, 57, of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away surrounded by family on March 3, 2025.
Tim was born on October 10, 1967, in Charleston, West Virginia, to Bill and Susan Pauley alongside sisters Kelly and Kerri. He moved to Nashville in 1985 to attend Lipscomb University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1989.
Tim went on to pursue his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Tennessee’s School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1992. He completed an Ambulatory Care residency in 1993 at University Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida, where he researched asthma, laying the groundwork for the rest of his career.
After residency, Tim moved to Manchester, Tennessee, to work with his uncle and mentor, Ray Marcrom, at Marcrom’s Pharmacy. Together they started Marcrom’s Clinical Care Services, which produced pharmacy practice manuals in asthma and patient physical assessment. He later served as Manchester’s alderman from 2012-2016 and was a member of Forest Mill Church of Christ.
Tim traveled around the country training pharmacists in asthma education and creating an asthma certification program at UT’s College of Pharmacy. He was later hired by Schering Plough and Amgen to continue his work in pharmaceutical asthma education.
Tim fearlessly embraced the life he was given with optimism and open arms. In his early adult life, Tim got his pilot’s license, hiked the Grand Canyon, went skydiving, and bungee jumped from a bridge in New Zealand.
In 2003, Tim was blessed with his son Isaac, who is currently studying computer science at the University of Alabama Huntsville. On Tim’s hardest days, the mention of Isaac’s name never failed to bring a smile to his face.
Alongside his academic and professional accomplishments (which he proudly shared with strangers and waitresses alike), Tim will be remembered most for his gift of good humor. To those close to him, there is no doubt that Tim’s ability to make challenging circumstances lighter and make people laugh along the way was a healing balm for the M.S. diagnosis he battled for nearly 40 years.
Tim is survived by his son, Isaac Pauley; mother, Susan Pauley; sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Ritchie Pickens; and their children, Savannah and Clayton (Laney); sister and brother-in-law, Kerri and Chad Edwards; and their children, Stiles and Daisy; and dozens of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family.
A celebration of Tim’s life will take place on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Brentwood Hills Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee. A visitation will be held from 12 – 3 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3 and a graveside service at Christ Church Memorial Gardens at 4:30 p.m.
Memorial donations can be made to the Ray E. Marcrom Memorial Pharmacy Scholarship (1 University Park Drive, Nashville, TN, 37204), the National M.S. Society (214 Overlook Circle, Suite 153, Brentwood, TN, 37207), or Alive Hospice (1710 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN, 37203).
Tim’s family extends their deepest thanks to the community that has rallied around him throughout his life and battle with M.S. The love you have for Tim and his spirit will continue to bless us in the coming days as we mourn his loss. We know we share this grief with you, and for that, we are humbled and grateful.
