Dolores Ann Dyer McInturff “Sunny” passed away on November 24, 2021 in Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 89.

Sunny was born in Bakerville, Tennessee to Carlos A. Dyer and Lucille Bone Dyer. After graduating from Waverly High School, she attended St. Thomas School of Nursing in Nashville where she earned a Diploma in Nursing in 1953. Throughout her nursing career, she worked as a Public Health Nurse at the Lentz Public Health Center, American Red Cross, and St Thomas Hospital.

Sunny married Jerry Wade McInturff in 1953, and they had three children. In addition to her role as a wife and mother, she was active in numerous ministries at St. Henry Catholic Church including the Cursillo movement, prison ministry, St. Henry Women’s Club, and the Colonna club. She received the Henrietta “Tired Catholic” award in 1987 and the Angel award in 1993 in recognition of her devotion and ongoing service to her church and community. Sunny was also a member of the Hillwood Country Club and several women’s clubs in the community. In later years, she enjoyed working as a tour guide, volunteering at St. Thomas Hospital, and raising her two youngest grandchildren.

Sunny is preceded in death by her spouse, parents, and her sister Linda Dyer Plant Parker.

She is survived by her daughters Melanie McInturff Thoenes and Lisa McInturff Russell (Bob), son Timothy Shawn Dyer McInturff (Loida), grandchildren Wade Thoenes (Rachel), Maura Thoenes Buckley (Steve), Jerred Russell, Gavin Russell, Audry McInturff Hoffman (Ryan), and Waylon McInturff, and great-grandchildren Sloane and Kieran.

Pallbearers will be Bob Russell, Jerred Russell, Gavin Russell, Wade Thoenes, Waylon McInturff, and Ryan Hoffman.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on December 1, 2021 at St Henry Catholic Church 6401 Harding Pike in Nashville, TN. 37205. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 with a reception in the Fellowship Hall to follow from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Friends and family are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be at 2 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
