Mrs. Deliah Price Reid, a homemaker of the Pleasant Shade Community, died peacefully with her son and grandson at her bedside at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday afternoon March 4, 2025 at the age of 70. She was pronounced deceased at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where she was admitted for palliative care on February 20th.
Bro. Josh Gibbs, pastor of the Peyton Creek Baptist Church, will officiate at the 11 a.m. Thursday morning March 6th graveside services from the Pleasant Shade Cemetery. Burial will follow beside her son, Sam, in the Sloan section of the cemetery.
She was born Delilah Ruth Price in Carthage on February 21, 1955 and was one of four children, three sons and a daughter of the late James Thomas “Hammer” Price who died at the age of 84 on December 12, 2013 and Wilma Dean Evitts Price who just died February 12, 2025 at the age of 91.
One of Mrs. Reid’s two sons, Samuel Benton “Sam” Reid, preceded her in death on November 6, 2012 at the age of 39.
Also preceding her in death was three brothers, Thomas Douglas Price who died at birth on August 16, 1951, Richard Steven Price who also died at birth, on June 5, 1952, James Timothy “Tim” Price who died on October 20, 1988 at the age of 22.
Mrs. Reid was a graduate of the 1973 class at Smith County High School. While a student at S. C. H. S. she majored in Science and Mathematics, was a member of the Beta Club her sophomore and junior years, was a member of the Future Homemakers of America her freshman and sophomore years and in her sophomore year was a member of the chorus, the Spring Festival, and the Fall Festival.
Mrs. Reid was a nurse and previously was employed at the former Smith County Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
She was a member of the Pleasant Shade Upper Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Surviving is her son, David Reid and wife Jacqui of the Pleasant Shade Community; five grandchildren, Ben, Lauren, Zac, Courtney and Melanie; five great-grandchildren, Kennadi, Bella, Adalyn, Rylee, and Sophia.
