Cynthia Marie Hyde, departed this life on October 28, 2024, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. Cynt, as she was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God.
Cynthia was born on January 2, 1950, to the late Willie Calvin and Clara Etta Ellison in Milan, TN. She was the first child born to this union. She graduated from West High School in Denmark, TN, in 1967, where she was a proud member of the Glee Club. After graduation, she moved to Nashville, TN, to attend Tennessee State University. It was in Nashville that she met her beloved husband, John B. Hyde, Jr., and they married on Valentine’s Day in 1978. From this blessed union, their daughter Chandra Elaine was born.
After over 25 years of dedicated service, Cynthia retired from Bank of America, formerly known as Commerce Union and many other names, where she worked as a Research & Adjustments Analyst and Supervisor.
Cynthia committed her life to Christ from a young age and was a lifelong, devoted & cherished member of Faith United Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville, TN. She was actively involved in several ministries, including the Adult Choir, Faithful Ladies Auxiliary, Missionary Society, Senior Action Ministry, Benevolence Ministry, and the Afterschool Program. With a deep passion for cooking and catering, Cynthia could often be found assisting with meals for church functions and the children in the after-school program. She loved sharing her skills and knowledge of the craft with her friends and family.
Cynthia was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Fantasia in Red, where she served as the Officer of Finance and Venue/Event coordinator for the Nashville Chapter for over 10 years. She was affectionately known as the “Baby of the Red Hatters.”
She is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Hyde, Jr., and her brother, Stanley Louis Ellison.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Chandra Elaine Richardson; stepchildren, Valerie (Johnny) Mabon and Carlos Gunn; grandchildren, Taylor (Kevin) Hill, Kelley Mabon, and her “boo” Aiden John Richardson; her siblings, Charles (Rita) Henning, Calvin Douglas (Gwenette) Ellison, Mitchell Wayne Ellison, Ronald Allen Ellison, Shelia Denise Jackson, Jeffery Clay (Gloria) Ellison, and Charles Eric Ellison; devoted friends and former co-workers, Rever Love, Lee Ann Huffman, and Linda Conlin; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, church members, and former BOA co-workers.
Cynthia’s legacy of love, faith, and service will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
