Hermitage – Cyntha Jean Johnson Atkinson, age 88 of Hermitage TN, died January 9, 2026. Predeceased by her parents Walter R. and Lucille Owens Johnson, son Michael J. Atkinson, and brother Robert Owens Johnson.
Survived by daughter Janice Marie Atkinson of Hermitage, TN, son Neal Scott Atkinson of Redfield, AR. Five Grandchildren: Misty Dawn Crocker, Ashley Nichole Sears (Nick McEntyre), Courtney Lynn Mizzoni (Annmarie), Jessica Michelle Atkinson, Robert Michael Atkinson. Eight Great-grandchildren: Kayla Ann Gardner, Christofer Raymond Gardner Jr., Emie Marie Crocker, Myles Raynall Fanchier, Robert Stuart Fort Jr., Isabella Grace Fort, Sarah Marie Fort, and Greyson Wyatt Mizzoni.
Cyntha graduated from Isaac Litton High School in 1955 and from the University of Tennessee in 1959 with a BA Degree where she was vice-president of Sigma KAPPA Sorority. She retired from Dupont with 27 years of service. She enjoyed playing bridge, fishing, swimming, and bowling. She was an ardent fan of all Tennessee Vol Athletics and loved playing the slots on the computer and at Casinos.
Per her wishes, there will be no viewing, funeral, or memorial service as she chose to be cremated. Her final message to family and friends is: “I will always love you” and “I did it my way”. Remembrances may be made to the Pat Summit Fund or to a local No-kill animal rescue group.
