Clarence Michael Miller, Sr., lovingly called Mickey or Pops depending on how you knew him, peacefully departed this life surrounded by the ones that loved him most on June 24, 2025, at St. Thomas West in Nashville, TN.
Mickey, born on September 24, 1957, in Selmer, Tennessee, was the son of the late Paul David Miller and Margaret Frances Dillon. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories, survived by his devoted wife, Sherry Miller; his loving children and grandchildren; son, Clarence Miller, Jr (Jennie) and their three children, Isaac, Alex, and Heidi; son, Chris Purcell and his son, Devin; daughter, Kimberly Capps (Bradley) and their six children, Paige, Dylan, Jaylen, Camden, Madeline, and Nathan; daughter, Brandy Miller (Jessica).
Mickey was instilled with a sense of hard work and can-do attitude by his father at a young age. He began honing his craft as a mechanic working on his and his brother’s bicycles and any other toys he could get his hands on. He started in the maintenance department at the Coca-Cola plant in Nashville and Columbia, TN, and later became the Maintenance Supervisor of Production at US Smokeless Tobacco Co. in Nashville, TN.
He had many friends, but he counted his children and grandchildren among his closest buddies who affectionately referred to him as Pops. Being sure to train them all up with that same can-do attitude, he instilled in his children and grandchildren that you work hard and never quit. He never missed an opportunity to cheer them on from the sidelines and let them know he was their biggest fan.
Mickey met the love of his life, Sherry, in 1980, and from then on, they were each other’s everything. He loved nothing more than spending time with Sherry and their family, whether that be in the backyard with him on his grill, at the ball field, or soaking in the sun on the beach. He was a simple man and found the most joy with his family and in his garage. He was the one you called because he would drop what he was doing and be on his way. He was the fixer of anything he got his hands on, including broken hearts and skinned knees.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret Miller; and his brother, Greg Miller.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. with a celebration of his life and memories to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel in Nashville, TN.
