Charles Randolph “Randy” Brent, 82, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on February 9, 2025, at 1:11 am.

Randy was born on March 4, 1942, in Nashville to Charles Campbell Brent and Dorothy Sherrod Brent. He was a proud graduate of Hillsboro High School, Class of 1960, and went on to attend UT Nashville from 1972 to 1974.

Randy served in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1962, stationed aboard the USS Forrestal CVA 59. After his active-duty service, he transferred to the Naval Reserve, where he served until 1965.

Professionally, Randy had a long and successful career in the construction industry. From 1962 to 1964, he worked as a draftsman for the State of Tennessee’s Highway Department. Over the next several years, he held roles as an estimator for Forrest Allan Tile Co. (1964-1966), Tennessee Glass Co. (1966-1967), and Nashville Painting Co. (1968-1970). Randy spent the majority of his career at Ray Bell Construction Co., where he worked from 1970 to 2008. During his 38 years at Ray Bell, he became a Senior Vice President, partner in Bell and Associates, and made countless contributions to the success of the company.

A man of varied interests, Randy had a passion for motorcycles, boats, and cars throughout his life. He was also an avid golfer, known for his impressive three hole-in-ones. He held an amateur radio license and a pilot’s license, reflecting his curiosity and adventurous spirit. Randy was also a lifelong member of Woodmont Baptist Church, where he was baptized as a young man, and proudly earned the title of Eagle Scout.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Campbell Brent and Dorothy Sherrod Brent. He is survived by his children, Charles Damon Brent and Katherine Brent Hall, along with four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Randy is also survived by his sister, Cheryl Brent Allen, and two half-siblings from his father’s side.

Randy will be laid to rest with full military honors, as a Navy Veteran, a mark of the service and dedication he gave to his country and community.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
