Carmel Don Robirds, known to his many friends and family as Don, passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 89 years of age in Nashville. He was beloved as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
His life was spent serving God first. Don and Carol were saved shortly after marriage and chose to attend Free Will Baptist Bible College together, moving from Modesto, California to Nashville, Tennessee. As their family grew so did their faith. After college graduation they felt called to the mission field and the country of Brazil. They embarked on that course with their family in 1964. After serving 7 years in Brazil, they returned to Nashville, where Don served as the Director of Public Relations for Global Missions from 1971 to 2003. He was a member of The Donelson Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church (TDF) from 1971 forward.
Preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Robirds; daughter, Judy Robirds Burnett; and grandsons, Chad and Jason Burnett. Survived by wife, Diane Robirds; daughter, Terri (Steve) Osborne; sons, Steve Robirds and Mike (Rhonda) Robirds; and grandchildren: Ally and Sarah Robirds, Chris and Casey Smith, Michael Price, Katrina Zastrow and Daniel (Erin McCoy) Zastrow.
Funeral services will be conducted by Kenneth Eagleton on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 615-331-1952.
