Nashville – It’s with heavy hearts that the family of Carl Randolph Dreifuss (74) announces that he died peacefully at home under the care of hospice and surrounded by loving family in Nashville, Tennessee on April 17, 2025, concluding a 4 year journey with pancreatic cancer.
Carl was born on November 1, 1950, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Miriam and Wudi Dreifuss. A gifted student, he received his Bachelors of Electrical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and went on to pursue his Masters in Business Administration at Baldwin Wallace University. Professionally, Carl evolved his career in electrical engineering and corporate business administration to professional consulting and commercial real estate, where he could work with clients and projects that were meaningful to him.
Throughout his life, Carl found joy in the simple pleasures, including gardening, home maintenance, and repairs. He is fondly remembered for his love of tinkering and fixing almost any electrical or mechanical devices brought to him. His adventurous spirit led him to travel widely with Beth by his side, creating lasting memories across countless journeys, from cage diving with sharks to swimming with Antarctic penguins. At home, when not repairing and tinkering, you could find him spending quality time with his dogs and caring for his freshwater fish.
Carl was predeceased by his parents, Miriam and Wudi; and son, Kevin Dreifuss.
Carl will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Elizabeth G. Tannenbaum, with whom he shared over twenty years of adventures and cherished memories. He is survived by his brother, Frank Dreifuss; son, Bradley A. Dreifuss; his step-children, David Tannenbaum and Danielle Pasch; his grandchildren: Elijah, Kaya, Kael, William, Emma, Hannah, and Wolfe; his dotting Schnoodles, Lexi and Tatianna; and a beautiful tank of freshwater fish, too numerous to name.
A funeral service honoring Carl’s life will be held on April 20, 2025, starting at 2pm at The Temple (Ohabai Shalom) 5015 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205. The service will be followed by a procession to his grave site at the Temple Cemetery (2001 15th Avenue North Nashville, Tennessee). The public is welcome to attend both services.
Carl’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and loved him. May his legacy bring comfort and inspiration to all whose lives he touched.
