With his loving family surrounding him, Mr. Bernie Franklin of the Hickman Community, entered into his final rest at 10:27 p.m. Tuesday evening April 21, 2026 at the age of 67 at his Hickman Creek Road home and was pronounced deceased by Gentiva Hospice of Livingston.

Mr. Franklin is at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Eld. Michael Nesbitt will officiate at the 1 p.m. graveside services which will be conducted on Thursday afternoon April 30th at the Sircy Cemetery in the Brooks Bend Community of Jackson County. Burial followed near his mother.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the graveside services.

Born Bernie Dwight Franklin on January 5, 1959 in Carthage he was the son of the late Peggy Ann Woodard Franklin Tisdale who died May 15, 2020 at the age of 83 and Hubert Carl Franklin who died June 1, 1996 at the age of 66.

Bernie’s step-father, Willie Tisdale departed this life at the age of 87 on January 30, 2020.

Bernie was also preceded in death by twin sisters who died at birth and by a brother, Anthony Franklin who died December 2, 2014 at the age of 54.

He was a maintenance mechanic on heavy duty construction equipment before becoming disabled.

Mr. Franklin attended the Carthage First Freewill Baptist Church in the Tanglewood Community.

He is survived by his three children, Janet Kyle and fiancée Michael Ifland of Cookeville, Greg Franklin of the Hickman Community, and Jenna Franklin Hensley and husband Cody of South Carthage; brother, Scotty Franklin of the Hickman Community; seven grandchildren, Destiny Atkins of Carthage, Lauren Brinkley and husband Adam of the Brush Creek Community, Damon Franklin of Carthage, Carter Franklin of the Hickman Community, Chad and Ethan Madewell of Carthage, Braven Evans of Lebanon; five great-grandchildren.
