Bernice Houston passed away September 8, 2025 in Litchfield Park, Arizona at the age of 70. She was the 6th child of Odie and Bertha Newborn. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Patricia (2005), brother-in-law Henry (2021), brother, Dr. Odie V. Newborn, Jr. (April 4, 2025), half-sister, Martha Michel (Louisiana). Bernice was the devoted wife of Paul Houston and mother of 2 daughters, Alana and Kasee (Geovanny) Caballaro and grandmother of 2, Cireniti and Jamari.
She is survived by sister, Connie Sanders (Jesse), brother, Danny Newborn (Arizona), sisters, Mattie Bates (Theodore) Gwendolyn Willingham, and 15 loving nieces, nephews, other cousins, family and friends. Bernice was educated in the Nashville Public Schools and graduated from North High School in 1973. She continued her education and graduated from Tennessee State University in 1977.
