April Dawn Buell (Reynolds) brought sunshine to the world from the moment she was born on April 29, 1966, until her passing on May 20, 2025. She was born to James and Carol Haislip Reynolds in Nashville, TN. April’s life was an example of love, laughter, and devotion -all of which were most beautifully expressed in her role as a devoted wife to Mike and loving Mother to her boys. April never missed a game, school event, or celebration. If her boys were there, she would be there, cheering the loudest. Her love had no limits and her heart and her home at Scobey Drive were always open to her sons’ friends who became “her boys” too.

April is survived by her loving husband Mike, who she fell in love with at age 17 and whom she loved faithfully from the moment they met; her sons Dallas Buell (Alaina) and Tyler Buell (Emily) whom she adored; her grandsons Cooper, Banks, and Parker Buell who brought her joy as their Gigi; her mother Carol Haislip and step-father Jerry Carr; her father James D. Reynolds and stepmother Joann; her brothers James D. Reynolds Jr., and Michael Reynolds; and a large, loving extended family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. April was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents Clyde & Irene Haislip; her grandmother Nellie Reynolds; her mother-in-law Shirley Buell; and her cherished Aunt Kathy – who was like a sister to her and has surely greeted her with open arms at the gates of Heaven.

April dedicated 38 years of service to the Tennessee Department of Safety, where she was known for her professionalism, warmth, and commitment to helping others. She was instrumental in organizing the yearly THP memorial service, Trooper of the year recognition ceremony, Christmas celebration for Troopers and their families, and many other events that required her organizational skills and ability to work with others. She left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working with her.

April’s happiness for life was contagious. Whether she was headed to the mountains or the beach, laughing through a game of bingo, cards, or dominating at “Name That Tune,” she brought joy to everything she did. But more than anything, she cherished the simple moments of life – family gatherings, warm hugs, and a home filled with love. She was the sunshine of the family. April’s life was a gift to everyone who knew her. Her love, laughter, and sparkle will be missed more than words can say – but her spirit lives on in every warm memory and every heart she touched.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Alive Hospice, especially nurse Olivia and Larisa, for the incredible compassion and care they provided during this tender time.
