Althea Susie Jenkins (White), lovingly known as Susie, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 81. Born on February 2, 1945, in Nashville, she spent her entire life in the city she called home, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Susie was the beloved partner of William Hardin and a devoted mother to Jamie (Makeya) Jenkins, Stevie Jenkins, Mark Jenkins, and Tonya Chambliss. She was predeceased by her son Stevie Jenkins and grandson, Nathan Jenkins. Her grandchildren—Cody (Brooke) Chambliss, Chris Chambliss, Savannah (Blake) Morris, Sadie and Sydney (Ieshia) Launders, Sareena and Taylor Stafford, Jalyn, Alena, Alex, Eli Jenkins, Therisa Jenkins, and Karissa Jenkins—were a source of immense pride and joy for her. She also cherished her seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Susie is survived by her siblings Junior White, Bubba White, and Ann Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Esther White and D. C. White, and her sisters, Barbara, Dorothy, and Corinne.

Throughout her life, Susie was a pillar of strength for those around her. She dedicated herself to providing for her children and grandchildren while extending her warmth to everyone in the neighborhood. Her career in customer service allowed her to touch countless lives with her kindness and genuine care for others.

When not working or caring for others, Susie found joy in simple yet meaningful pursuits. She loved spending time outdoors, surrounded by nature’s beauty, or curling up with a good book and a cup of coffee. Family gatherings were among her favorite moments—times filled with laughter and love that brought everyone closer together. She also enjoyed cooking delicious meals that became cherished family traditions.

Susie’s talents extended to embroidery as well—a craft she used to create beautiful keepsakes that will be treasured by those who knew her. Her comforting personality made every interaction memorable; she had an innate ability to make people feel valued and loved.

Above all else, Susie’s greatest legacy lies in the values she instilled in those closest to her: the importance of diversity, acceptance of others without judgment or prejudice, and practicing kindness in all aspects of life. These lessons will continue to guide future generations of her family as they honor the remarkable woman who shaped their lives.

Susie’s memory will forever remain a source of comfort for those who knew and loved her. May we all strive to embody the compassion and strength that defined her life so beautifully.
