It is with heavy hearts that the family of Douglas Keller announce his passing on November 19, 2024. Doug had just celebrated his 74th birthday and passed away suddenly at home. While unexpected, he had dealt with serious health issues for the past 8 years.
Doug was born in Catawba County, North Carolina on November 14, 1950. His parents were Keener E. Keller and Mary Munday Keller. They preceded him in death as well as his brother Ronnie Elmore Keller.
Doug grew up and graduated high school from Granite Falls, NC where he enjoyed athletics. Throughout his life, Doug was an independent man who loved life on the road. We lovingly called him the original “ramblin’ man” and he spent 49 years as a celebrity coach and long-haul driver. This was Doug’s happy place. Since retirement, Doug had filled his time with working at Hogan Transportation and enjoying his family, especially his fur baby, Ruby Rose.
Doug is survived by his wife Lori Holt Keller and her children Kahlie (Josh) Singletary and Jordan Al-khalel, his daughter Christy (Bobby) Mosteller, and his granddaughter Allyson. He is lovingly remembered by extended family, the Yetleys, Bergos, Walkers, Hegenes’ and his very best lifelong friend Steve Eckard.
Doug lived his life on his own terms, but one thing we know to be true, he knew the Lord as his personal Savior, and we rejoice that he is Home in his new restored body.
Doug enjoyed the simple things in life and requested that in lieu of a service his friends and family just take a moment to share a memory of him.
Donations can be made in Doug’s name to the animal rescue of your choice.
Until we meet again.
