Albert ‘Al’ Ollie Rahal, a devoted husband, father, and brother passed away October 22, 2025.
Al was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio to Sofia and Ollie Rahal on April 30, 1968. Al was a proud graduate of the University of Toledo. During college, he joined the Kappa Delta Rho fraternity, eventually becoming President of his Chapter. He was inducted into the KDR Hall of Fame this year.
Al was extremely talented and creative with a keen eye for the details. He enjoyed building cigar-box guitars that were sold around the world. He had fun collecting mid-century glass, rehabbing vintage lawn chairs, and always looking for the next treasure. He was an avid concert goer and loved music. He was the rockstar drummer in his band, The Dutch Crumbs.
He had such a passion for music and sports, but nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He married the love of his life, Sarah in 1999. Together, they were blessed with two amazing children, Ali and Sofia. Al took great pride in coaching the kids in baseball, softball and swimming. When not coaching, he volunteered in whatever capacity was needed to support their teams. As a family, they would enjoy watching movies, cheering on the Toledo Rockets and Detroit Tigers, going to hockey games and numerous concerts together. He was an amazing baker, especially around the holidays, making Christmas cookies and buckeyes. Al was always an excellent host to his friends and family, cooking four course gourmet breakfasts and entertaining at every opportunity.
He had an incredible sense of humor and was as flexible and patient as they come. We could all benefit from Al’s words of advice for any and all occasions which was ‘Play it cool.’ He was pro shorts for all occasions – the more casual the better.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sofia and Ollie Rahal; Mother-in-law, Marcia Fox; And father-in-law, Russ Fox.
Al is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sarah Fox Rahal; Children, Ali and Sofia; Sisters, Melissa Hall (George) and Amy Shelton (David); Brother-in-law, Andrew Fox (Lisa); And many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home, 2707 Gallatin Pike, Nashville, TN 37216, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 10 AM until 12 PM. A service to honor Al will be held at 12:00.
