The National Weather Service has confirmed an EF-0 tornado occurred in Murfreesboro on Monday.
The agency says max winds were 75 mph with a path length of 3.38 miles and a path width of 100 yards. South of the tornado track, downburst winds were up to 80 mph and caused more significant damage from I-24 to downtown Murfreesboro.
This is the first known tornado to occur in the month of July in Rutherford County ever. Official tornado records go back to 1950, and unofficial records extend back to the 1800s

Downburst winds caused damage outside of these areas in other parts of Murfreesboro as well.
