The Nashville Fire Department (NFD) awarded the First Place Award to the 2024 NFD Holiday Cheer Champions Fire Station #29, C-Shift on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at NFD Headquarters.
Fire Station #29’s personnel earned the most votes for their fire station’s holiday decorations in December. Station #29 is located at 4201 Gallatin Avenue and featured original holiday light designs. The center piece of the designs is a “Pond” the personnel put up in front of the fire station and decorated with Christmas and holiday decorations.
Fire Station #14’s personnel earned an Honorable Mention for their work to decorate the historic fire station in East Nashville. Station #17 is located at 1600 Holly Street. Fire Station #14 is the first fire station, or fire “hall” as they are often referred to, to house motorized pumpers. It is still in operation today in the East Nashville neighborhood of Lockeland Springs. Engine Company 14 started in service on October 1, 1914. The house was designed by Nashville’s first municipal architect James Yeaman and is listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places.
Each participating fire station has decked out its station in dazzling holiday decorations, and the public was able to vote for their favorite display. Station #14 earned the most Facebook “Likes” on their official holiday photo by Christmas morning 2024.
“This event is a fun and meaningful way to showcase the pride our firefighters have in the neighborhoods they serve,” said Chief William Swann.
The contest is an exciting way to spotlight the spirit of the holidays and the hardworking men and women who dedicate themselves to the safety and well-being of Nashville. It also serves as a reminder of the selfless service of the NFD personnel, who continue to work tirelessly for their communities, even during the holiday season.
