Nashville SC is preparing for another season of inclusive soccer as the club continues its partnership with Special Olympics Tennessee, offering athletes the chance to compete on a Unified Team in 2026.
The upcoming season will mark the fifth-straight season Nashville SC has partnered with Special Olympics Tennessee to field a Unified Team. The Special Olympics Unified Team brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to promote social inclusion and is inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
Tryouts for the 2026 Unified Team are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to noon at the David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center at Vanderbilt, located at 2600 Children’s Way.
Athletes and Unified partners must be between 15 and 26 years old when the season begins on Feb. 13, 2026. Players will be selected based on soccer ability and how well they work with potential teammates. Those chosen must be able to commit to regular practices in the Nashville area, a team signing day, and scheduled matches.
The Unified Team is expected to play up to three matches during the 2026 season, including one or two home games in Nashville and one or two away matches against Unified Teams from other Major League Soccer clubs.
