The Nashville Fire Department’s Squad Trucks have proven to improve emergency responses while also saving wear and tear on larger apparatus for calls not requiring a full fire suppression response.

NFD deployed 9 new Squad Response Trucks in 2024 to strategic areas of Metro Nashville Davidson County to help with high volume call areas.

This year thru Dec 29, NFD Squad Trucks were dispatched 26,921 times. Each of those dispatched calls allowed for larger apparatus to stay at the fire station and in service for other emergency calls.

Station 11 3,789
Station 9 2,933 (Also named the busiest fire station in America by Firehouse Magazine)
Station 28 2,489
Station 26 2,365
Station 19 2,123

“The performance data of our Squad Response Trucks shows how this innovation is improving our efficiency as an all-hazards department,” Director Chief William Swann said. “The Squad Response Trucks have also allowed the department to use larger apparatus less, thereby extending the road life of our more specialized apparatus.”

The Squad Trucks can respond to car wrecks, elevator rescues, medic calls, and other incidents as needed.

The Squad Trucks have extrication tools, medical supplies, elevator keys, and has a Compressed Air Foam (CAF) Systems which can spray high foam concentrations for fire extinguishment needs.
