Friends of Angaza Nuru, a Tennessee-based nonprofit changing lives in Bodoi, Kenya, will host a special benefit concert on Friday, October 24th, in Nashville.
The show features acclaimed fiddle player Megan Mullins Owen and her band SheeHaw at Priest Lake Presbyterian Church, 2787 Smith Springs Road in Nashville. Find tickets here.
The event will raise funds to provide classroom furniture and educational support for students at the Angaza Nuru School in coastal Kenya.
Mullins Owen, best known for her work with the band Alabama and her fiery, high-energy fiddle performances, brings her signature mix of country classics and Nashville spirit to the stage. With her trio SheeHaw, audiences can expect a night of rocking country favorites, fiddle classics, and music with heart.
“When Friends of Angaza Nuru asked me to help with a concert, I didn’t hesitate,” said Megan Mullins Owen. “Anything that helps children touches my heart — especially as a mom. It means a lot to use our music to make a real difference, and I know this is an amazing organization that is truly changing lives.”
Since 2012, Friends of Angaza Nuru has partnered with families of Bodoi, Kenya to promote education, alleviate hunger, and build relationships grounded in Christian love. The organization funds an elementary school, provides weekly meals to hundreds of children, and operates the growing Angaza Nuru Scholarship Program — a beacon of hope for more than 300 students.
“These children are so special to me,” said Nancy Loudermilk, Friends of Angaza Nuru board chair. “I have been to Kenya twice, and I could not be more proud of the work we are doing on the ground, and of our ministry. This concert celebrates that work while helping give these precious children the tools they need to learn and thrive.”
